My journey of not knowing began in May 2013, it started with a headache that was the worst I had ever experienced. I had just turned 36, had four children who were under 10 and a husband working full time. We didn't need what ever this was happening.
That intense headache caused neck pain too, so I headed to our local hospital as I didn't know what was wrong, in the initial 24 I developed weakness on my right side so was kept in hospital for a week fortests etc.
My MRI came back with some t2 hypo-intensities and they did a lumbar puncture to test for MS.... over 12 months later I still do not know what is wrong but I do now that whatever it is its not good.
I have tried many medications for my constant headaches, by July this year I gave up on them, which helped, this week though the daily constant headache came back. I also still get weakness or heaviness on my right side, this increases when the headaches increase.
My basic symptoms are headaches, sometimes constant for over a month at a time, weakness or heaviness on my right side that makes walking and carrying things quite difficult, tingling sensations in my left foot and my right side, fatigue and some forgetfulness. I also seem to need to go to the bathroom alot.
I have been seen by a neurologist at our hospital who suggests this is all functional or conversion disorder, a psychiatrist who disagrees and a private consultant who thinks this lays somewhere between MS and migraines. my general practitioner has become very use to seeing me and he thinks this could be MS too.
so my journey of not knowing continues.
